Christine Margaret Sanchez, 75, beloved mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, passed away Thursday, May 9, 2024, at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont, Texas. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 15, 2024 at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Port Neches. A Committal Service will be held Friday, May 17, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Shultz Funeral Home, Jasper, Texas. Family will greet friends at 10:00 a.m. on Friday before the Service.

Christine was born on September 5, 1948, in Mumbai, India to the late Griselda and Martin Pinsent. Christine led a fulfilling life before her peaceful passing. She retired from the State of Texas Health and Human Services after dedicating herself as a secretary for years. Christine was a long-time parishioner of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Jasper, Texas until she moved to Port Neches in 2000. She then started attending St. Anne Catholic Church in Beaumont and St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Port Neches. Her love for plants earned her a reputation for having a green thumb. Known for her love of dancing and constant desire to be on the go, Christine also had a penchant for McDonald's Frappes. She also enjoyed shopping at the Dollar Store and Lowes. Christine will be remembered for her warm smile that could light up any room and the love she had for her two furbabies.

Christine was preceded in death by her mother, Griselda Rita (Soares) Pinsent; father, Martin Dominic Pinsent; husband, Stanley Hubert Sanchez Sr., and brother, Bruce Francis Pinsent. Christine leaves behind cherished memories for her surviving family and friends. Christine is survived by her sons, Stanley Sanchez of Port Neches, Texas; and Andy Sanchez and wife, Denise; daughter, Danielle Sanchez of Conroe, Texas; grandchildren, Dakota Joe Sanchez, Cheyenne Christine Sanchez, Karla Sanchez, and Nathan Sanchez; great grandchildren, Carli Sanchez and Jerod Sanchez; sister, Anne Ramachandran and her husband, Narayanan; nieces, Ingrid and Desireé; and nephew, Lloyd.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 15, 2024 at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Port Neches. Jeneatta Faye Lopez LeBlanc, 83, of Brookeland passed away on Wednesday, April 24, 2024 peacefully at her residence. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2024 at 4:00 p.m. at Lakeside Christian Fellowship in Brookeland, Texas at 9790 US Hwy 96 North with interment to follow at Simpson Cemetery. Jeneatta Faye was born on February 24, 1941 to Solly & Inez Simpson in Jasper, Texas. A life-long resident of Jasper, she was the owner and operator of Solley’s Liquor Store until her retirement in 2005. A woman who loved her family, she is survived by her sons Darrell Lopez of Brookeland, Billy Lopez & wife Sandra of Sam Rayburn, Terry Lopez of Brookeland, and Paul Lopez & wife Joyce of Lumberton; brothers Donald W. Simpson of Bronson, Bobby R. Simpson & wife Gloria of Brookeland, and Stephen E. Simpson of Brookeland; sister Teresa G. Wanda Gail Davidson, 64, of Jasper passed away on Sunday, April 21, 2024 in Jasper. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, April 26, 2024 at Erin Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. The family will greet friends from 1:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Following the graveside service, friends and family are invited to celebrate, eat, and fellowship the life of Wanda at her residence.

Wanda was born on July 21, 1959 in Jasper, Texas, to Elton John Morgan and Lorine Hinson Morgan. She grew up in Jasper but left to travel the country until retirement when she came back home to enjoy the piney woods. Wanda was a Christian woman and her faith lived in her soul. She loved a good garage sale, music, dancing, and a good drink. She had an amazing sense of humor, loved a good joke, and enjoyed making people laugh. Wanda had a knack for interior decorating and enjoyed creating spaces for people that showed off her talents. She was known for cooking a great meal and entertaining both friends and strangers. Above all of her hobbies and talents, she loved her family immensely. Stephen “Bubba” Cossman, 52, of Newton passed away on Thursday, April 18, 2024 at UTMB in Galveston. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date with his family and friends.

Bubba was born on December 24, 1971 to Peggy Cossman in Merryville, Louisiana. He loved the outdoors, especially hunting and swimming. Adam Rhett LeGros, 46, of Jennings, Louisiana passed away on Wednesday, April 17, 2024 at his residence. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2024 in Burkeville with family and friends.

Rhett was born on March 20, 1978 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana to Lasson & Vickie LeGros Jr. He was a resident of Jennings, Louisiana and he proudly served his country and was a veteran of the United States Army. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, hunting, fishing, hiking, and exploring in the outdoors. Katherine Eileen Buller, 99, of Kirbyville, Texas passed away on Thursday, April 11, 2024 in Jasper at Harbor Hospice of East Texas. A Celebration of Life Service will be held with her family on Saturday, April 20, 2024. She is interred in the Old Shady Grove Cemetery in Crockett, Texas.

Katherine was born on April 18, 1924 to Lone & Ella Young in Hickory, North Carolina. A resident of Crockett, Texas, she lived in Kirbyville for the past five years. Michael Deane Steinecke was born at Jefferson Davis Hospital in Houston on April 3, 1951. He passed away at his home at Lake Sam Rayburn on April 8, 2024. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 13, 2024 at Shultz Funeral Home in Jasper. The family will greet friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.

Michael was a native of Houston until permanently relocating to the lake in 2013. While in Houston, he had a long and successful career in the finishing of commercial offset printing, both as a master craftsman and supervisor. But his true passion was music. He started at an early age, curious about his father's guitar in the case with the built-in amplifier, and his love grew from there. He was fortunate to have had many talented friends who shared his passion and joined him in several bands through the years. Shortly after moving to the lake, Michael was asked to join the Hope Family, entertaining folks at local nursing homes, adding a bit of rock 'n roll and soul to their song lists. He often said those were some of the most gratifying gigs he ever had. Becoming a little bored with the free time he had, Michael decided to find a part-time job and was hired as a delivery driver for NAPA Auto Parts. Again, he often said this was the best job he ever had, allowing him to be around people, making new friends along the way and the bonus was driving over the dam to and from work, seeing the beautiful lake.

Left to cherish his memory are Beth, "his huckleberry" and wife of 32 years, daughter Michele Horelica (Jake) and his son, Brad, along with his grandchildren Erika and Cody Alford, Gracie Horelica, Chloe, Bradley and Avery Steinecke (mother Diana), great granddaughter, Saida Lisette (mother Erika), sister Barbara Van Winkle, brothers Richard and Dan, sister-in-law Susan Swartzfa*ger (Dennis), brother-in-law John Krystan (Bernie) nieces and nephews Jason (Liz), Lisa, Jon, Kristen (Jay), Anthony, Jill (James), Brian (Deanna) and Joey; as well as cousins, great nieces and nephews and countless dear friends and neighbors. Christopher Sherer, 44, of Jasper passed away on Friday, April 5, 2024 in Jasper. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, April 11, 2024 at 4:00 p.m. at Jasper County Cowboy Church with interment to follow at Jasper County Cowboy Cemetery. The family will greet friends on Thursday from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the church.

Christopher was born on December 26, 1979 in Nederland, Texas to Paul James & Vinh Thi Sherer. He grew up in Port Neches and graduated from Port Neches High School. He attended Houston Community College and received his law enforcement certification. He received his Master Peace Officer on September 22, 2023.

Chris worked with the Jasper County Sheriff’s Department as a Deputy, Sergeant, Lt. Investigator and was an excellent officer that always had a great sense of humor and cared for those around him. He found his calling, working with kids in the DARE program and as a Mental Health Officer. He then went to work with the Jasper Police Department as a School Resource Officer. Chris loved his family at Parnell Elementary School. He loved working with kids and law enforcement, so he found the perfect balance. He exemplified public service by always helping those around him, volunteering at events, giving his talents to make Jasper, Jasper ISD, and Jasper County a better place for 20 years.

Chris was a devoted and loving family man. He married his wife Kristin on July 2, 2005 in Livingston, Texas and they started their life together. They have two daughters, Madison and Tatum, that always knew how much they were loved. Chris enjoyed being with his family and friends and being their “Fat Boy”. He was always fun to be around and ready for a good laugh. He had a connection to people and always tried to build relationships to make the community better.

He is survived by his mother Vinh Thi Sherer of Port Neches; wife Kristin Sherer of Jasper; daughters Madison Sherer and Tatum Sherer of Jasper; sisters Maria Sherer of Houston and Lisa Sherer of Port Neches; an uncle Robert Sherer & wife Sandra of Warren; all of the surviving relatives of the Hoang family; numerous nieces and nephews; his family at the Jasper Police Department, the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office, and his Parnell Elementary and JISD family.

Nathan Thomas “Tommy” Schofield, Jr. was born on December 23, 1951 and passed away peacefully surrounded by his immediate family on April 3, 2024 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont.

Tommy lived in Jasper all his life, except for the four years that he attended Stephen F. Austin State University, where he was on the golf team and a proud PIKE. He accepted Christ and was baptized at First Baptist Church as a young man and he was a proud 1970 Jasper High School graduate. His Jasper roots run deep. His great-great grandfather, Captain Andrew Smyth, a merchant and river man, moved to the Jasper area in the 1830s, and was captain of the steam-powered Riverboat Laura in the 1870s. The family has lived in Jasper ever since that time.

Tommy met the love of his life, Brenda, in 1980. Brenda was sent to the Jasper Ice Co. one day

to collect a fundraising check for her employer. Tommy knew at that moment he wanted to

spend the rest of his life with this young woman. Tommy and Brenda started dating

shortly after and were married on February 7, 1981. They spent the next 43 years building a life

together, devoted and deeply in love. Tommy always said that he would have been lost without

Brenda.

Tommy was a natural leader and served in many civic and Methodist church leadership roles.

He was a third generation Jasper City Councilman, serving eight years on the council. His grandfather, James T. Schofield, served two terms on the Jasper City Council, and his father, Tom Schofield, also served on the Jasper City Council. Tommy’s commitment to service was rooted in his belief that if you wanted to create change and make improvements you need to be involved and care deeply about the benefit and betterment of the community and the people without asking for anything in return.

Like his father, Tommy served on the JISD Board of Trustees. Tommy served on the Board for nine years in the 1990s and early 2000s, serving two years as President of the Board. One of the many accomplishments of Jasper ISD during his time on the Board, was the building of the Jean C. Few Primary School. The naming of the school was very special to him, since Mrs. Few was his own childhood school teacher.

Tommy was a member of the Jasper Economic Development Corporation (JEDCO) Board for several years and worked to bring ProValus to Jasper.

Tommy was a financial advisor for over twenty-five years, currently a partner in the Schofield-Heinz Group. Prior to working in the financial industry, he was the owner/ manager of Jasper Ice Company for many years. He was so very proud of all the young people that he worked with and mentored through the years at the ice plant, and he loved hearing about all their successes. He had terrific ice plant stories to tell. In addition to pallbearers and honorary pallbearers, all former employees of Jasper Ice Company are special, honorary pallbearers.

Tommy was a man of his word. He believed that a handshake and his word were his bond and promise. He was honest and spoke what was on his mind. He had a strong work ethic and worked hard all of his life to support his family. He passed that work ethic on to his beloved sons, Jason, Michael and Daniel, teaching them that to be successful at anything you had to work hard and keep God and family first. Tommy did his best to help others whenever he could, and tried to treat other people fairly and well. Tommy was a great friend. He was always happy for others when they succeeded. He always had a smile on his face, loved to visit with others, and always seemed to find the best in everyone. He was always the first to tell a joke and did so often. He addressed strangers as friends; and was friendly to everyone he came in contact with.

Tommy was an avid golfer and outdoorsman who loved deer and duck hunting. His happiest days were those spent on the golf course or hunting and working on the Forks of the River Hunting Club with his sons; Jason, Michael, Daniel, best friend Randy Sayers and countless other hunting buddies. He kept journals of their adventures. Tommy believed that nature and early mornings in the field offered some of the world’s purest and simplest joys. Tommy was a great storyteller and had a way of making you feel that you were part of the story. He was a big Dallas Cowboys fan. He loved playing on local Fantasy Football teams.

Tommy’s favorite role was that of a devoted and loving husband, Dad, R-Graddy and Granddaddy. He took great care of and adored his family, and they adored him. He was so proud of his wife, three sons, daughters-in-law and five grandchildren, and they are so proud and thankful for the gifts of his love, care, hard work, guidance and devotion.

Tommy is survived by his devoted wife of 43 years, Brenda; Son, Jason and wife Kendra, grandsons, Ian and Logan, of Jasper; Son, Michael and fiancé Candice of Midland, TX; Son, Daniel and wife Chelsea, granddaughters, Olivia and Gentry, and grandson, Nolan, of Beaumont, TX; also, his niece, Deborah Johnson and husband Roger of Tatum, TX, special cousin, Burns McFarland, of Bay Springs, MS, and special aunt, Sue Walker, of Richmond, TX.

He joined his parents, Tom and Kathryn Schofield and sister, Kathy Cummings, in heaven.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at First Methodist Church of Jasper with interment to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will greet friends on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. in the Frank Ealand Hall at First Methodist Church in Jasper.

Evelyn Cape, 73, of Jasper passed away on March 27, 2024. A private service was held with family and friends.

Evelyn Pauline Cape was born on January 16, 1954 to Jim Ross and Madgie Nadine Holland. Evelyn served in the army and became a nurse. She loved roses, fishing and hunting and her family. Alfred Dale Hare, 85, of Woodville passed away on Saturday, March 16, 2024 at Harbor Hospice in Jasper. A private Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2024 at Macedonia Primitive Baptist Church.

Dale was born on June 27, 1938 to Warren & Florence Hare in Merryville, Louisiana. He served in the United States Navy as a Radioman on the U.S.S. Durant. After discharge he went to work for Gulf States Utilities and remained there until he retired. He loved to bass fish and run trot lines, dove hunt, gardening in his yard and working with computers. He had a love for good Cajun Cuisine eating and cooking, especially gumbo. A Nascar fan, he also loved the Dallas Cowboys and watching his grandchildren play sports. He was a Deacon and Song Leader at Macedonia Primitive Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, whom he married on April 1, 1961 in Rosepine, Louisiana, Sue Hare of Woodville; sons Danny Warren Hare of Jasper and Steven Dale Hare & wife Michele of Jasper; daughter Kim Hinch & husband Robert of Vidor; grandchildren Kenny, Justin, Amanda, Lane, Josh, Stephanie, Courtney, and Colton; as well as numerous great grandchildren with the newest addition Oaklynn Sue Hare, who was born on March 18, 2024. James Paul “Jim” Cashman, 93, of Jasper passed away on Sunday, March 24, 2024 peacefully at his home. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Monday, April 1, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church with interment to follow at Spencer Cemetery in the Harrisburg Community. The family will greet friends from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. on Monday at Shultz Funeral Home in Jasper prior to the service at the church.

Jim was born on April 19, 1930 in Chicago, Illinois to Frances and Katherine Cashman. After his sophom*ore year in high school, he attended and graduated from a catholic seminary in Cape Giradeau, Missouri. After graduation he went straight in to “The Major Seminary” in Perryville, Missouri. He graduated from college with his Bachelor of Arts in philosophy and liberal arts. He followed his bachelor’s degree with obtaining his master’s degree in theology. He then became ordained as a Catholic Priest and was a priest for fifteen years. After leaving the priesthood he became a social worker and worked for the state of Texas in Child Protective Services. After leaving he went to work for the Jasper Newton County Health Department helping families with any problems they may have. He worked for them for 25 years until his retirement. Jim believed in helping families and started a diaper service to help families. He was known for saying, “A baby with a dirty diaper is an unhappy baby, an unhappy baby makes for an unhappy family, and an unhappy family makes for an abused baby. If I can prevent child abuse I will.”

Jim was a resident of Jasper for 48 years. A family man, he enjoyed fishing, his church, and helping those in need. He is survived by his wife, whom he married on April 30, 1972, Marjorie Cashman of Jasper; sons Thomas Reddington & wife Suzanne of Port Neches, Timothy Reddington & wife Charlotte of Magnolia, and Todd Reddington of Jasper; daughter Meghan Spencer & husband Berthold of Jasper; sister Mary Lou O’Brien; grandchildren Matthew, Emily, Tyler, Shelby, Daly, & Darby; as well as great grandchildren Ava, Wesson, Ollie, Tucker, Lennon, Turner, Cross, Finn, Greyson, Colt, Dutton, Shepherd and Madeline. J.W. Arthur, 87, of Jasper passed away on Wednesday, March 20, 2024 at his residence. J.W. was born on March 8, 1937 in San Marcos, Texas to William & Mildred Arthur. A life-long resident of Jasper, he served his country in the United States Army. He was the owner of Jiffy Market in Jasper and the manager of U-Save and Brookshire Brothers grocery stores. He loved to ride horses and enjoyed visiting with people. He also enjoyed using his talents in carpentry.

He is survived by his wife Mary Arthur of Jasper; stepdaughters Loretta Walton & husband Leon of San Augustine and Tammy Johnson & husband Paul of Kirbyville; as well as numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Michael "Rico" Taylor, Jr., 26, of Jasper passed away on Monday, March 11, 2024 in Beaumont, Texas. Rico enjoyed spending time outdoors camping, hunting, and fishing. He was the life of the party that never meet a stranger. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, March 19, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Little Hope Cemetery in Jasper, Texas.

Rico was born on July 3, 1997 in Jasper, Texas to Michael J. Taylor, Sr., and Twila Perego. He was a lifelong resident of Jasper. A native of Bellwood, Louisiana, Evon was born on April 24, 1927 to Enoch & Emma Moss. A resident of Vowell Mills, Louisiana, she moved to Jasper in 2023 to be closer to family. A hard-working woman, she helped work the family farm and had a knack and love for gardening. Family was very important to Evon and she loved being able to take care of her family and make them feel loved. She loved cooking and just being in her kitchen, where she was the "Queen of the Kitchen".

Mattie Boyett Smith, 96, of Jasper passed away on Saturday, February 10, 2024 in Jasper, Texas. Mattie was born on June 27, 1927 in Silsbee, Texas to Monroe and Hortensia Boyett. A resident of Kirbyville, she was a long-time Jasper resident. She owned and operated her own beauty shop for 65 years, "Mattie's Beauty Shop". She was also a loyal member of Tanglewood Baptist Church for over 45 years, where she loved teaching Sunday School. Mattie loved to sew and enjoyed making special outfits for all her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also enjoyed many camping trips to Colorado in the summer and playing dominoes with her "Tennessee Gas Brats".

Carolyn Varue LeDoux, 85 of Kirbyville, died Wednesday, January 31, 2024 at Harbor Hospice in Jasper after battling an illness. Services will be held Sunday, February 4, 2024 at the Magnolia Springs Methodist Church at 3:00 pm. Family will greet the public from 2:00 pm until service time.

She was born April 7, 1938 in Port Arthur, Texas to parents Clyde and Hulan McLeod. She graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1956. She worked for Fuller, Fuller and McPherson a prominent law firm for about 10 years. During that time, she married Gene LeDoux on December 8, 1961, where they resided in Port Arthur. She also worked at Sabine State Bank and was executive secretary to several bank presidents. She was also President of the Port Arthur Legal Secretaries from 1970-71. In 1984 they moved to Magnolia Springs where she went to work for Kirbyville State Bank as an executive secretary to the president. She enjoyed playing 42 with her group “the forget me dots”, square dancing, and also had a green thumb when it came to plants.

She is survived by daughters, Rene’ Ellis and husband Kennon of Kirbyville and Becky McBride and husband Steven of Silsbee. Sisters, Peggy Ibrahim of Bedford and Pam Young of Graford. In Loving Memory of James "Jimmy" Kendric Payne, born March 23, 1948, passed on January 14, 2024, held close by his wife Susie. Jimmy's life journey unfolded across the world's landscapes, from Alabama and Texas to anywhere his military commitments would lead him, leaving a mark on the hearts of those he cherished.

A proud veteran of the United States Navy, he experienced two tours of duty in the Vietnam War. The military life then allowed him to enjoy the sights of England, Scotland, Iceland, and various states in America. He was proudly ranked as Senior Chief Petty Officer before retiring after 22 years of service. Jimmy's dedication to service continued as he worked for the Department of Defense, contributing to the construction of navy ships in Alabama. His commitment to his country reflected a lifetime of duty and honor.

Throughout his life, Jimmy found joy in the simplicity of outdoor pursuits. Hunting became a cherished tradition, a bond shared with dear friends. Like all things in Jimmy’s life, he brought a meticulous touch to maintaining his yard which brought him great pleasure. His love for golf and SEC football lives on in his son, John, connecting generations through the love of the games.

In the later years, Jimmy and his beloved wife, Susie, embarked on adventures that reflected their shared passion for life. Their travels in an Airstream took them across the western United States, with a memorable stop in Alaska, exploring the wonders of God's creation.

Returning to Texas for the final chapter of his life, Jimmy found solace in his little slice of heaven. The tranquility of his surroundings, coupled with the joy of watching wildlife and livestock from his window, brought him peace. Jimmy is survived by his wife Susie, daughter Tanya, son John, grandchildren Madison, Morgan, Chance, John Jr, and seven great grandchildren. Jimmy made Susie’s family his own and will be missed by her son Greg, daughter Crissy, grandchildren Kailey, Stephanie, Jacqueline, August and great granddaughter Codie.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, January 27, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at Ebenezer Baptist Church, 1277 County Road 044, Jasper, Texas. Glenn was born on November 2, 1953 in Beaumont, Texas, the first

of three children in his family. He was a 1972 graduate of French High School in Beaumont. Afterwards, he attended Lamar University Trade School and worked at Overhead Door Company. He soon married his high school sweetheart, Susie where they bought a home on Lewis Drive in Beaumont. In 1976, they had a daughter, Kristy, and three years later moved to Kountze, Texas where they built a home in the country and welcomed a son, Kevin. Glenn worked as a construction supervisor for his family-owned company Burk-O Construction and later Allco Construction. He had a knack for building just about anything you can imagine including contributions to Susie’s mercantile passions. Glenn had a beautiful way of truly appreciating nature. He was an avid hunter and fisherman who could spend all day in the woods, or on the lake and was a long-time member of the Beaumont Bass Club. His love of nature was passed down to his kids and grandkids. Glenn was always a positive and calm presence in the lives of his family and friends. He was a loving father and husband, who would do anything for Susie and his kids. He was bathed in grace and a champion of kindness.

Debbie was born on May 18, 1950 in Oakland, California. She grew up in Oak Cliff and graduated high school from Justin F. Kimball High School in 1968. She attended Stephen F. Austin State University before meeting the love of her life Jim Freeman and moving to Jasper to start a new chapter of life and a family. Debbie’s face and smile have been a familiar sight for many people for many years. She worked in retail in Jasper for a long time and was always so willing to help people. She lastly worked as a care-giver, which she loved as she loved taking care of people. She was a kind and gentle woman, who loved her family and her fur babies. She enjoyed gardening and cooking. She leaves behind a host of friends with lasting memories for everyone to cherish.

Evelyn Earlene (Albright) Dry, of Jasper, Texas went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on January 10, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. The burial will be 11 a.m. Sunday, January 14, 2024, at Holly Grove Cemetery in Holly Grove, Texas near Livingston.

Earlene was born on January 16,1939 in Baytown Texas, the last of six children in her family. She was a 1957 graduate of Robert E. Lee High School in Baytown, where she lettered in band playing the clarinet. Afterwards, she studied physical therapy at Lee Junior College where she met her future husband, Aubrey Dry. She soon married Aubrey while attending college and then worked as a bank teller full time to pay tuition for her husband. After moving to Jasper, Texas in 1972, she worked as a substitute teacher for many years for the Jasper School district. When not teaching, she was a stay-at-home Mom and enjoyed caring for her children and family. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution for over 40 year and served as the local chapter president. She enjoyed traveling to Branson Missouri with her husband, friends and family, game shows and playing dominos, card games and jigsaw puzzles.

Earlene loved the time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and cared for them while their parents were working prior to them reaching school age. She taught them to read before they began kindergarten. She also loved hunting and fishing with her family, church and especially singing with the choir. She never met a stranger and loved having conversations with friends she ran across when shopping or simply running errands.

Earlene was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Aubrey J. Dry Sr., parents Earl Flemon Albright and Eleanor
Alice (Foster) Albright, her brothers Eddie Albright, Gordon Albright, and Carl Albright.

She is survived by her children, Renee Waggener and husband Clay of Jasper, Aubrey J. Dry Jr. of Jasper, Ronnie Dry and wife Gloria of Houston, and Eddie Dry and wife Brady of Seguin. Her brother, Wayne Albright of Bryan, and her sister Delores Adams of Livingston. Her grandchildren, Clayanne Spadaccini and husband Michael of Jasper, Jill Beatty and husband Cedric of Jasper, Jacob Waggener of Jasper, Lawson Dry and wife Krista of Brookeland, and Lacy Jordan and husband Derek of Splendora. Her great grandchildren, Camden and Claire Spadaccini, Braelyn and Trevor Beatty, Jaeya Waggener, and Arabella, Mary, Evelyn and Chasen Jordan.

Above all, she was the heart and soul of our family. She always encouraged her children and grandchildren in all endeavors whether they were in play, work, or school. She always stressed the importance of loving God, family, and country and to always treat others in a manner that you would like to be treated.

Cindy was born on July 10, 1973 in Freeport, Texas to Karl Coffman and Patricia Harris. She grew up in West Columbia and the Bay City area. Cindy was very active in 4-H and FFA growing up and won multiple awards for her hard work and dedication. She was a graduate of Sam Houston State University receiving her Bachelor’s Degree and she received her Master’s Degree from the University of Phoenix. She moved to Buna in 2005 and was the Jasper County Coordinator & Extension Agent. A member of the First Baptist Church of Buna, she loved coloring, sewing, and helping with the Buna fishing team. She loved her 4-H kids especially helping them be successful. She was an active teacher and advocate for Head Start and genuinely loved helping people. She loved her family and her fur babies, and leaves behind good friendships and lasting memories.

Clinton L. Henley, 87, of Jasper passed away on Sunday, December 24, 2023 in Beaumont at Baptist Hospital. He and his wife Janice moved to Jasper in 1996 to enjoy retirement. He was a devoted follower of Christ and loved his family. He married his high-school sweetheart, Janice on November 12, 1954 in Beaumont, Texas. Jeanette Klinoff 1933-2023

It is with deepest regret the family would like to announce the passing of their mother, Jeanette Klinoff on December 17, 2023 at 3:45 am. She is preceded in death by her husband Roger Klinoff in 2012 as well as three sisters and one brother.

Jeanette is survived by her children Carol Hardcastle of Jasper, Pauline Broom and husband Jim of Jasper, Vicki Thacker and husband Gary of Kirbyville, Karla Klinoff, and Ricky Klinoff and wife Bridgette of Jasper; eleven grandchildren; twenty-four great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jeanette was a wonderful mother, always helping her family and others. She loved baking year round, especially the goodies at Christmas time. She also loved making birthday and wedding cakes for her family, church family, and people in the community. She loved doing ceramics for herself, her family and friends, so much so, that she bought her own kiln to fire her ceramics.. She was very much loved by her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

The family want to thank Father Ron for always coming to visit her, bringing her communion and praying with her every week at Timberidge nursing home. We would also like to thank Timberidge nursing home employees for their wonderful care and truly caring for mom. We also want to thank Olive Branch Hospice for caring for her and helping both her and us at this most difficult time. Jimmie Dell Billiot, 61, of Jasper passed away on Monday, December 11, 2023. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, December 16, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Shultz Funeral Home in Jasper. Jimmie Dell was born on November 16, 1962 in Jonesboro, Louisiana . A long-time resident of Louisiana, Jimmie Dell moved to Jasper in 1994. A familiar face around town, she worked as a cashier with her most recent employer being the Valero. Jimmie Dell loved watching TV and shopping. She had a love for Christmas and Easter, but her greatest pride and joy was her family. She loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She leaves behind lots of good memories that will always be cherished.

Pastor Blake W Nesbit, 58, of Jasper passed away on Thursday, November 23, 2023 in Jasper. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, December 4, 2023 at Shultz Funeral Home in Jasper with Bro. Wes Wright officiating.

Blake was born on May 8, 1965 in Houston, Texas to Winston and Elizabeth Nesbit. A resident of Toledo Bend for many years, he had lived in Jasper for the last 20 plus years. He was a graduate of the University of Houston, where he graduated Summa Cum Laude with a degree in accounting. Blake loved the Lord and felt called to preach His word in 2005 at Friendship Church in Roganville. He had a talent with words, which led to his song writing. He also loved singing music, especially gospel or old commercials. He truly made a Joyful Noise to the Lord. In 2008, after visiting the local music store, he asked to see the building next door and immediately knew what his next calling would entail. He founded and began the Church of the Lighthouse, here in Jasper. He loved his church and felt like his church members were his family.

Blake loved sports, especially any Houston team, the University of Houston Cougars, Houston Astros, Houston Rockets, and the Houston Texans. He did however root for the University of Arkansas Hogs, as that was his Dad’s favorite team.

Blake had struggles for several years, but prevailed and was a successful member of Alcoholics Anonymous for 22 years. He was a true testament of one who can turn their life around and let his struggles and successes speak to others.

Blake leaves behind his wife, whom he married on February 13, 2003, Reggie Nesbit, of Jasper; mother Elizabeth Nesbit of Jasper; daughter Abbey Box of Ruston, Louisiana; sister-in-laws Penny Culpepper of Weston, Louisiana, Betty Hatten & husband Troyof Dodson, Louisiana, and Patsy Barton & husband Roger of Winnfield, Louisiana; brother-in-laws Wayne Barber & wife Carolyn of Winnfield, Louisiana and John Ray Barber & wife Sue of Winnfield, Louisiana, and Gene Sweat of Winnfield, Louisiana; aunts Mary Pawlak, Erline Roig & husband Sterling; nephew Robert John Lake; his fur babies Sheba, Roxy, and Bella; multiple cousins, nephews, and nieces; ex-wife Alex Duron & husband Andy; as well as his church family. Jimmy Rogers, of Kirbyville, passed away on October 25, 2023, in Houston, Texas. Jimmy Rogers was born on December 29, 1931, to Albert and Lyda Rogers in Blooming Groves, Texas. Jimmy served his country during the Korean War and was a Private first class in the Army from 1952 to 1954. He was a truck driver until his retirement. He was a resident of this area for 50 years and attended the Beulah Springs Missionary Baptist Church. Kenny was born in Fort Hood on August 8, 1961 to Kenneth and Louise Williams Sr. A resident of Angelina County, he had lived in Brookeland for the last ten years. A carpenter by trade, he had a love for the outdoors. He loved fishing and hunting, but he really loved Harley Davidson Motorcycles. He loved spending time with friends and family making memories. He is survived by his daughter April Williams; son Hunter Williams; brother Lynn Williams; sister Suzanne Butler; grandchildren Chandler and Bentley; a bonus mom Betty Williams; numerous nieces and nephews; as well as a host of good friends that were like family to him. Sherrill Ann Trammell was born June 6, 1958, in Texarkana, Arkansas to her loving parents Berdina Sue and Charles Henry Teel. She was the eldest of 5 children. Sherrill grew up in Spring Branch Houston, Texas. She was a great help in raising her younger siblings and took great pride in playing such a role in her family. In Spring Branch, she met her lifelong best friend MaryEllen Grimberg, whom she eventually became related to by marriage.

Sherrill met Irving Trammell in 1976 and was married for 28 years. Sherrill and Irving had 2 beautiful daughters, Heather and Lindsay.

After her girls were grown, Sherrill started over and began a new relationship with Mike Andrew. Sherrill loved Mike and his sons Chris and Shaylor and his granddaughter Kylie. Mike remained a faithful and loving boyfriend until Sherrill drew her last breath.

Sherrill created and experienced a lot of memories throughout the years. One of the things Sherrill loved most was having fun & traveling with her grandchildren by her side. She adored them all. She taught them to love the outdoors and all of God's beautiful scenery.

In 2013, Sherrill had an eye-opening experience when she became very ill with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. While hospitalized she found God and her salvation in Jesus. She leaned on God's Word for hope and found strength and salvation through Revelation 3:8. She was a new creation in Christ and God healed her.

Sherrill's children, grandchildren, and family meant everything to her. She was a beautiful soul and very caring. She also had a sassy side. She would laughingly say if her sister Sterle is Sugar, then everyone should call her Spice. She was a go-go gadget girl who loved using every kind of gadget in her household. She loved to cook, especially on birthdays - she would cook everyone's favorite meals and she was good at it.

Sherrill was survived by her parents Sue and Charles Teel, her daughters Heather Gantt and husband Danny Gantt and Lindsay Trammell. Grandchildren Grayson Dunbar, Kinsey Neatherlin and Kylin Neatherlin.

Kelly Lynn Fitch, of Jasper, passed away on October 9, 2023, in Jasper, Texas. A Celebration of Life will be held, on Thursday, October 12, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Hillcrest Baptist Church, Jasper, Texas. A meal will be provided after the service.

Kelly was born on August 30, 1962, in Honolulu, Hawaii to William Fitch and Patricia Gill. She became a nurse in 1989 and worked many years at Zale Lipsey Hospital as an ICU nurse; eventually becoming manager of the Neuro ICU and was awarded Nurse of the Year. After moving to Jasper, she worked at Complete Health Care for many years, helping patients relieve their pain from arthritis. Her most recent work was with Lil Angels Pediatric Healthcare where she was the primary caregiver to a sweet little girl. She loved her family and was so proud of all of them. She was always excited to hold every new baby that was born into the family. She loved her Church, Hillcrest Baptist Church, and dedicated her time to the AWANAs program and Vacation Bible School. She was a big fan of Football, her favorites were the Dallas Cowboys and High School football. When it was playoff time for High School, she was there to cheer them on and made plans to attend all the championships from 6A down. Her other passion was gardening. She loved to research the plants or flowers that she needed in her yard. She is survived by her dad William “Buddy” Fitch of Rowlett, Texas; son John Dawdy of Dallas, Texas; brothers Bill Fitch of New Braunfels, Texas, and Chip Davis and wife Kimberley of Bowie, Texas; Aunts Mary Ann, Carolyn Jean, Cissy, Janie, Dede and their spouses; many cousins, nieces, and nephews whom she loved dearly. Douglas Baggett was born on August 3, 1935, to John Baily and Maudie Baggett in Ballinger, Texas. Douglas served in the Air Force from 1954 to 1962. He called Pineland, Texas home for many years, even when he moved away, he always came back to East Texas. He was a resident of Jasper for 5 years. He was a wonderful father and stepfather to all his children. Jacqueline Rice Youngblood was born November 17, 1939, in Corpus Christi Texas. She was raised in Houston and graduated from Lamar High School in 1958. She attended St. Paul Methodist Church and always felt at home there. She graduated from Southern Methodist University in 1962 where she was an active member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority. She loved horses her entire life and was a wrangler at Cheley Colorado Camp. She married her husband Frank on September 29, 1962. They lived in Austin Texas for fifty years where she led Bible study Fellowship and attended small group at Austin Oaks Church. Jackie loved the Lord with all of her heart, soul, and mind, and she loved others as herself. Jackie is survived by her loving husband Frank Polk Youngblood, son Jeffrey Dowling Youngblood, sisters Jerilyn Keith, Joanne Handleman, Judy Hartung, brother Robert V. Ruby Lois Jones was born on March 1, 1938, to James and Rose Jones in McLennan County. She grew up in Waco and was a founding member of the Woodway United Methodist Church. She was an educator, who retired from West Independent School District. Upon moving to Jasper, she joined and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Jasper, the Jasper Retired Teacher's Association, the Pine Country Gem & Mineral Society, as well as the Jasper Women's Civic Club. John Berry Soileau was born on June 26, 1943, in Mamou, Louisiana, to John and Eva Soileau. He grew up in Mamou, Louisiana. After high school, he joined the 173rdAirborne and served from 1962 - 1964. He has been a resident of Jasper since 1977. He worked offshore and retired from Pennzoil in 1993. She taught in various different schools all over Southeast Texas. She finished her career at the University of Texas – Tyler teaching and supervising teachers. Tommie was a devoted Christian and met her husband of 61 years Ernest Mills one Sunday at church. She loved teaching, volunteering at her church, traveling with her husband, and being a grandmother. Julie Knowles, 75, of Jasper passed away on Wednesday, July 26, 2023 in Beaumont, Texas. A native of Corpus Christi, Julie was born on May 18, 1948. She attended W.B. Jack “Catfish” Coleman, 88, of Jasper passed away on Saturday, June 24, 2023 in Beaumont, Texas. A Celebration of Life with Military Honors will be held on July 14, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at Central Louisiana Veteran's Cemetery at Fort Johnson in Louisiana.

A native of Iowa, Louisiana, Jack was born on November 24, 1934 to Albert and Dorothy Coleman. Jack enlisted in the United States Air Force on June 28, 1956. He served one tour in Vietnam with the First Air Commandos from October 1962 to May 1963. He flew B-26’s with over 50 combat missions. He earned medals that included the Distinguished Flying Cross (1963), two Air Medals, and the Air Force Expeditionary Medal. He retired from the United States Air Force at a Lieutenant Colonel after more than 20 years of service. After retirement from the Air Force, he flew commercially for Eastern Airlines and American Eagle. He moved from Conroe, Texas in 1996 to Jasper where he spent his retirement flying his private airplane, fishing, exchanging stories with the local pilots, and enjoying his family. He is survived by his wife of 61 years Sandra Rhea Coleman of Jasper; sons Bobby Coleman & wife Mindy of Montgomery and Randy Coleman of Jasper; grandchildren Russell, Leigh Anne, Jarrett, and Justin; as well as a stepsister Virginia Patterson of New Jersey. He is preceded in death by his parents Albert Coleman and Dorothy Coleman, a son Kenny Coleman, and stepmother Eula Pate. Environmental Company as a superintendent. Jim loved the outdoors. He loved his Kubota tractor, horses, and deer hunting. Most of all he loved his family. John was born on April 27, 1927, to Norman and Joyce McDonald in Livingston, Texas. He served in World War II in the Navy and received the Victory Medal. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge for over 50 years. He met Marjorie and they married February 18, 2006, and moved to Jasper in 2007. He is survived by his wife Marjorie McDonald of Jasper, his son Johnny McDonald of Kountze and his daughter Debbie Hatton and husband Phil of Kountze. He was a proud and loyal member of Erin Missionary Baptist Church, a church he loved. Most of all Jack loved his family, especially when they could all be together. He met the love of his life, Linda, in high school and married her on June 2, 1962 at Erin Missionary Baptist Church. Richard was born on September 1, 1942, in Far Rockaway, Queens New York to Violet Baker and Lester Muddiman. Muddy moved to Houston in 1975. He was a real estate construction contractor. He grew up in Buna and graduated from Buna High School, he also served in the Buna Volunteer Fire Department. A resident of Kirbyville for many years, he and his wife Mary of 53 years moved to Jasper in 1988. A familiar face around town, as he was the owner and operator of C & M Car Care. Cecil also worked at Brookshire Brothers, U-Save, Wal-Mart, and most recently Kaines Meat Market in Sam Rayburn. A man who loved the outdoors, working in his yard, camping, and going fishing for catfish, he also loved his family. Jimmy, known by most as little Jim or J- Dog, which his grandsons called him, was born in Houston, Texas to Frances and Jimmy Johnson. He was the 7th of 10 children. He grew up running the back roads between Deanville, Caldwell, and Snook. After school he became a plumber and was able to attain several licenses in the field. He worked all over Texas, Louisiana, and Florida. If lil’ Jim wasn't working he was with his family or spending time in the woods somewhere. He was his happiest when he was outside piddling with any and everything. Jimmy lived hard and loved harder.

He was preceded in death by the love of his life and mother to his 3 children Jean Collins-Johnson and his only son Jimmy Johnson III, mother Frances Johnson, his father Jimmy A Johnson Sr. and his sister Josephine.

He is survived by his siblings Jack Giacona and wife Carol, Mary Willgus, Camella McKinney and husband Charles, Benny Giacona and wife Susan, Robert Macaluso, Michael Johnson and wife Karen, William Johnson, and George Johnson and wife Wanda. Danny "Dan" Nason, 73, of Kirbyville passed away on Thursday, March 16, 2023 peacefully at his home. A native of Lincoln, Maine, Dan was born on September 26, 1949 to Wayne and Elaine Nason. A resident of Kirbyville for the past 25 years, he worked in the construction industry and served his country in the Air National Guard. George Buster McDaniel, Jr., 82, passed away in Jasper, Texas, on Sunday, March 12, 2023. He was born on September 8, 1940, in Glenmora, Louisiana, to his parents, George Buster McDaniel, Sr. and Myrtie Cloud McDaniel. Junior was the first of many children, fourteen total to be exact. He was happily married to his wife, Doris Pauline Ellis McDaniel, for sixty-one years.

He followed in his father’s footsteps in many ways, but most importantly in his service to his country, as his father did. He proudly served in the U. S. Army and National Guard Reserves. He was mechanically inclined, and was often found working on his cars or those of others. He helped a countless number of people with their vehicles, always assisting when he could.

He was a bit standoffish to some, but once you got to know him, you found a friend. You could easily see how much he cared for his parents and siblings. Above everything, his greatest pride was his children!

Did I mention he loved music? His love of music was incomparable to any. You just had to mention the “greats” and he’d say, I have that CD. He could tell you who gave him the CD, when they gave it to him, and tell a story about the singer. There wasn’t a day in his adult life, when he was home working on a project or sitting around visiting, that there wasn’t music to be shared. Sometimes it seemed the music was more important than the conversation.

His life’s timeline was measured by the jobs he was working and the visitation of family. Each day was one or the other; who came to visit, who he just visited, or who was coming.

Junior’s hardworking, can-do attitude and optimism was contagious, and will truly be missed.

Junior was proceeded in death by his wife, Doris Pauline Ellis; his parents, George Buster McDaniel, Sr. and Myrtie Cloud; two sons, George Delane McDaniel and George Blandon McDaniel; and great grandson, Rylan McDaniel.

Left to cherish his memory are his siblings, Mary Ann Eaves, and husband George (Buddy), of Oakdale, LA, Barbra Gene Harris of Jennings, Florida, and George (Bull) McDaniel of Houston, Texas; his children, Bryan Edward McDaniel and wife Regina, of Laporte, Texas, Debbi Sue McDaniel of Vidor, Texas, Connie Jo Caples and husband Mark, of Jasper Texas, Gordon Koehl McDaniel and wife Joraine, of Alvin ,Texas, Georgia Pauline McDaniel of Jasper Texas, and Reverend Jon Paul McDaniel and wife Crystal, of Friendswood, Texas; seventeen grandchildren; thirty-five great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

Funeral services for Mr. George Buster McDaniel, Jr. will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 18, 2023, at in the Chapel of Rush Funeral Home, Oakdale, with Brother Gordon McDaniel officiating. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Oakhill Cemetery, Oakdale, under the direction of Rush Funeral Home, Oakdale.

Gordon Franklin “Frank” Vining, 70, of Batesville, MS, went home to be with the Lord on March 12th, 2023.

Frank was born in Memphis, TN. He graduated from Treadwell High School in 1971 and served on the Shelby Co. Sheriff’s Department until his retirement in 1998. His greatest loves in life were his family, his friends, his church, fishing, playing guitar, and his beloved wildlife.

Frank was preceded in death by his father, Gordon Wilburn Vining.

She is survived by her husband Charles “Sonny” Sanchez of Jasper, whom she married on July 14, 1972, her son Sonny Sanchez of Austin, and grandchildren Ethan and Elijah. Nikki Lamberty, 55 passed away on February 17, 2023 in Jasper. A private service was held with her family. Nikki was born April 21, 1967 to Roman and Lois Lamberty. Patricia Land, 87, passed away on February 6, 2023 in Webster, Texas. Patricia was born on December 29, 1935 to Clarence and Anna Beasley, in Lawrence County Tennessee. From there, he traveled to New Mexico, then to Orange, Texas and finally to Jasper where he has resided for the past 29 years. William “Billy” Floyd Seago, 91, of Jasper passed from his earthly home into the gates of heaven on the afternoon of Wednesday, January 25, 2023 at Timberidge Nursing & Rehabilitation in Jasper. He was met at those pearly gates by his precious “Momma” Connie Wilma Seago and “Daddy” Hyriam Melvin Seago and a brother Ray. Billy was the first of four children born on June 6, 1931 to Hyriam Melvin Seago and Connie Wilma Winder Seago in Swift, Texas. Billy grew up in Nacogdoches, Texas. He was an active member of the Missionary Baptist Church and was Baptized in the “Muddy Waters” of nearby Rucker Pond; as was a sign of the times. He spent time as a school bus driver working for Nacogdoches ISD. He later obtained the job he loved the most, Lead Janitor for Raguet Elementary School in Nacogdoches, where he retired after 35 years of service. His favorite past time was going to eat at Kentucky Fried Chicken.

She had been a resident of Tyler for the past six years. Molly is also fondly remembered for her numerous years teaching for Jasper Independent School District and First Baptist Christian School. Harold E. Kennedy, 84, of Jasper passed away on Friday, December 30, 2022. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, January 3, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at Tanglewood Baptist Church in Jasper. The graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. at Salem Cemetery in Bloomburg, Texas on Tuesday. Harold was born on October 4, 1938 in Kilgore, Texas to E. D. & Audrey Bardwell Kennedy. He graduated from Kountze High School in 1957, attended Lon Morris Jr. College on a basketball scholarship, and graduated from Lon Morris in 1959. He began his life’s work in Criminal Justice in 1960 as a Police Officer with the City of Houston. He left in 1966 to return to Sam Houston State University to complete his college degree. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice and Economics. He worked as a counselor for the Mountain View School for Boys in Gatesville, Texas from 1966 to 1968. He was employed by the Texas Youth Council from 1968 to 1970 and from 1970 to 1973 he was an Adult Probation Officer for the County of Dallas. In 1973 until 1976, he was the Project Director and Chief Probation Officer of the newly created First Judicial District Probation Department. He established probation offices in each of the four counties, where none had previously existed. In 1977 he was appointed by the Commissioner’s Court to fill a two-year unexpired term as Jasper County Judge. He was also elected for two more full terms of four years each. He decided not to run for re-election in 1987 for a third term, due to the illness of his daughter. He did return to his position at the First Judicial District Probation Department until his retirement in 2001. He received many honors and awards from State and County entities while he was County Judge and a Probation Officer. While he was County Judge, he established the first Jasper County Retirement System and was responsible for the building of the new Jasper County Jail. He was elected and served as a member of the Jasper Memorial Hospital District Board of Trustees in 1994. He was an ordained deacon of Tanglewood Baptist Church of Jasper in 1974, where he taught Sunday School classes until a few years ago when his health declined.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Olivia Kennedy of Jasper; son Steven Kennedy & wife Lynda of San Antonio; daughter Treva Kennedy Sullins & husband Danny of Lumberton; grandchildren Judd Kennedy & wife Lauren of San Antonio, Krysten Kennedy Schulmeier & husband Nathan of San Antonio, and Patrick Sullins & wife Michaela of Kountze; great grandchildren Colson and Parker Kennedy, Barrett and Jasper Schulmeier, and Ryann and Abilene Sullins. There was also a very special love for his nephew Jason Hall & wife Sophie, and his daughter Grace of Rosenberg. Tom Crenshaw, 91 of Jasper, Texas, passed away on December 14, 2022. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 20, 2022 at Shultz Funeral Home. The family will greet friends on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.

Tom Crenshaw was born July 3, 1931, in Silverton, Texas at home to Leslie and Opal Crenshaw. At an early age, his father, mother, brother, and he moved to Houston, Texas, where he was raised, graduated high school, attended the University of Houston for one year and worked at several jobs after school and on weekends. He was in the R.O.T.C. program at San Jacinto High School and a charter member at the University of Houston. Tom served in the Texas National Guard, the Regular Army and the Army Reserves. During his Regular Army career, he served at 5th Army Headquarters in Chicago, Illinois. After his discharge in December, 1952, he moved to Fort Worth, Texas, where he went to work for Texas Electric Service Company. On August 14, 1954, he returned to Chicago to marry Norma Dean Petty, at the Northwest Church of Christ, and promptly brought her to Fort Worth, Texas. They also lived in Bedford, Texas, for several years, moving to Jasper, Texas in June, 1963 when he began work for Visador Company as the Data Processing Manager. He brought Visador into the computer age and when the company sold in 1988 and moved the headquarters to Jacksonville, Florida, in October 1989, Tom, moved too, for a year and a half, then retired and came back to Jasper. He also worked as a consultant at in the late 1990's for the City of Jasper on their computer applications and a few others in Jasper on their computers. He received a degree in Computer Science from Kennedy - Western University in 1992.

He was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ and taught Bible classes for many years. He served as Jasper County Republican Chairman several times. He was a long-time member of the Kiwanis Club of Jasper, serving as president and division lieutenant governor. He is survived by his son Leslie Crenshaw and fiancé Melinda Shurr; daughter Kathleen Crenshaw; grandchildren Thomas Harper, Stephen Harper, Lynda Taylor, and John Crenshaw, great- grandchildren Dylan, Dominic, Bennett, Reese, Lynley, Caden, and Walker. Dal “Daddy Dal” Coleman, 90, of Jasper, Texas passed away on Sunday, December 11, 2022 at Baptist Hospital in Beaumont. Dal was born on May 11, 1932 in Caldwell, Texas to Earl and Miladie Coleman. He grew up in Huntsville and enlisted with the United States Army, where he served for two years. In 1963, Dal moved to Jasper and began a legacy that many remember to this day. He served Jasper Independent School District for 54 years. He was a coach, teacher, assistant principal, Jasper Middle School Principal, and Jasper High School Principal. After retiring as Jasper High School Principal, he returned to the district as a Truant Officer. Dal made lasting friendships during his time at Jasper ISD and was well respected for his work and dedication. He was also very proud of his yard; he spent lots of time on his zero-turn lawnmower making sure that his yard always looked its best. Dal loved his family. He loved time spent with them, especially when they could spend time at the beach house.

He leaves behind a family that knew they were loved by him, unconditionally. Sam Houston Ellis, 81, of Brookeland, Texas died on Tuesday, December 6, 2022 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital. Sam was born in Jasper on April 21, 1941 to Travis M. & Ora Mae Ellis. A resident of Houston he moved to Brookeland when he retired from the construction industry. After retirement from the construction industry, he continued working in the horse racing business for twenty plus years. He enjoyed hunting, gardening, playing poker, breeding and racing horses. He was an avid sports fan and a life-long Dallas Cowboys Fan.

Sam is survived by his wife Dorothy Bass Ellis of Brookeland; son Andy Ellis of Houston; daughters Pamela Ellis Click of Houston and Cindy Marik & husband Brad of Houston; sisters Annie Merle Roebuck of Brookeland and Norma M. Brenda Nash Bohler, 76, of Jasper, passed peacefully from this life on November 23, 2022 surrounded by her loving family. There will be a private memorial service at a later date.

Carolyn Dowden, 75, of Woodville passed away on Saturday, November 5, 2022 at Harbor Hospice in Jasper. A native of Livingston, Carolyn was born on August 11, 1947 to Oliver and Ruth McNeil. A resident of Tyler County since 1970, she had also been a resident of Kansas City, Kansas. Jim was born on September 6, 1934 to Rufus and Cammie Dowden in Many, Louisiana. A longtime resident of Deweyville and Jasper after moving to Texas in the 60’s. He was quick to tell everyone that Kisatchie was his “home”. He served his country as a member of the United States Navy as a flight captain. Jim was a jack of all trades and master of most. He worked for many companies over the years such as the TEC Pole Plant, Bill Dover Exxon, and Butler Supply, but his true passions were CB radios and firearms. He started his business, J & J Service, over 50 years ago in in Jasper while still working full time before deciding to work for only himself in the mid-80’s and, soon after, relocating to Deweyville, where he still worked as much as he could until the very end. Jim was quick to help anyone and any organization he could, such as providing the Good Guys and Bad Guys with the Jasper Lions Club Rodeo with the 12 gauge black powder ammunition for many years. Jim loved the outdoors, his country, and his family.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, brothers Charles, Luther, and Carl, sisters Betty, Judy, and Shawnee, daughter Jimmie Lou, and son Wayne. Patricia Ann Daugherty Tatum, beloved wife, mother, & aunt to several nieces and nephews, was born July 24, 1937 in Hutchinson, Kansas, and passed from this life on Saturday, July 23, 2022, one day before her 85th birthday. Mrs. Tatum was preceded in death by an only sister, Mary Francis Daugherty, and is survived by Dr. Gary E. Tatum, O.D. and daughter Andrea Tatum, both of Jasper.

Pat, as she was known to her friends and family, graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a BFA in Art. She worked in Midland, Texas as an illustrator for Hallmark, where she met and married Gary Tatum, an engineer at the time, in 1961. Mr. & Mrs. Tatum moved to Houston, where Pat worked for the Houston Chronicle in the art department while her husband attended the University of Houston School of Optometry. In 1966 they moved to Jasper, where Dr. Tatum opened the first optometry practice in the area. Pat worked in her husband’s office for many years, generously and capably helping in various positions, before retiring to pursue her love of art full time.

Pat was an artist of exceptional talent. She was awarded 1st place by the Guggenheim Museum of New York City for her painting, "Orange Embracing Blue” at the Rauschenberg Tribute Exhibition in Port Arthur in 2009. She also received 1st place in the Houston Exhibit of the Watercolor Art Society for her "Supernova”, a watercolor depicting sunflowers. She studied art in Paris for several summers and, together with the friends who accompanied her, wrote & published a book about their experiences. Pat, along with other talented artists in the Jasper area, founded the East Texas Regional Art Center, locally known as the Jasper Art Center. She was a long-time board member, responsible for bringing in and showcasing the work of area artists. Her family and friends have appreciated and enjoyed her paintings over the years and will now consider preserving as a memorial some of her works at the Art Center she helped to establish. With the artist's eye for beauty, Pat loved all of God's nature, but flowers were her favorite. She carefully cultivated her own flower garden and delighted in making gorgeous arrangements for each exhibit at the Art Center as well as for family events and holidays.

She was also a talented photographer, documenting holidays and events with artistically framed shots, followed by the well-known photo albums she lovingly compiled and generously gave as gifts to friends and family.

Pat was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church in Jasper, where she taught Sunday School for many years and where she will be deeply missed. Known for her tasteful and elegant manner of dressing, Patricia Tatum elevated every gathering she attended. For almost six decades, she was a kind, sweet and generously contributing influence in this small East Texas town of Jasper. She will be greatly missed by all of her family and friends in Jasper and elsewhere. Reminiscing with a relative, Dr. Tatum said, "We had a wonderful life together." Kenneth “Kenny” Earl Woosley, 51, of Newton passed away on June 29, 2022 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont surrounded by his family. Dorothy Ann Jones was born on September 29, 1937 to Elmo Edward (Bo) Meador and wife G.V. at their home in Kirbyville, Texas (future site of Max Mixson Memorial Clinic).

Dorothy made her career as the first female operator at Lufkin Industries in Lufkin, Texas. Life began when she married James Roy “Jughead” Jones. They fished, traveled, worked together in his Gunsmith Shop, both were dog lovers, and raised Longhorn Cattle.

After a long battle with health issues, Dorothy (Mammy/Aunt Dot) passed peacefully in her home surrounded by family members on May 28, 2022. Tracy Lee Barthol, 61, of Jasper passed away on Thursday, May 26, 2022 in Beaumont, Texas. Tracy Lee Barthol was born on January 1, 1961 as Jasper County’s New Year’s Baby. Tracy was born to Willie B. and Mary Lou. He attended Beech Grove Elementary School and Jasper High School. Tracy was the Jack of all trades. At a young age, he started out working in concrete with his brothers. He could fix anything from a car to a house from the ground up at a young age. In 1981, Tracy married Patty and together they had three children Tasha, Heather, and Justin. They later moved to Corrigan, where Tracy worked as a diesel mechanic for five years. Then he took his family to Pine Prairie, Louisiana, where he worked at Morrow as a Master Diesel Mechanic for five years. In 1997, they returned to Jasper, where Tracy built his forever home in the Beech Grove Community.

Tracy really enjoyed hunting and showing off all of his antlers. He loved cooking crawfish and gumbo, gardening, and working in his yard. His pride and joy were his family and especially his seven grandchildren. He loved being at his shop with his grandchildren, eating popsicles with them, and riding John Deere equipment with them. Even toward the end of his life, he looked forward to going outside on the golf cart to see all of his grandchildren and hanging out at the shop with his family.

It is with hearts so heavy we announce the passing of Sylvia June Haughaboo, age 83, on Wednesday, May 18, 2022 in Jasper, Texas. June passed at her home, as was her final wish. A memorial will be held at a later date.

June was the eldest of 5 children, born on June 24, 1938, in Cooperton, Oklahoma, to Stanley and Ruby Berridge. Her birth month is where she got her middle name, the name she has been known by her entire life. A long-time resident of Jasper, June worked tirelessly alongside her husband in their automotive repair shop on Highway 96 North. Many would say she was the personality of the business. A warm and vibrant woman, she never seemed to meet a stranger. She had many dear, close friends she loved, and who loved her, and she chose to be near them at the end of her days.

Mother to 3 children, June leaves behind her daughter, Pattie Wilson of Burleson, Texas, and her youngest son Tommy McElhannon, Jr. (wife Shelley) of Kerrville, Texas. She had 4 grandchildren: Erin Kristensen (husband Bo) of Castle Rock, Colorado; Ashley and Tanner McElhannon of Kerrville; and Jessica McElhannon of Wichita Falls, Texas. She also had one great-grandchild, Nicholas Kristensen of Castle Rock. Surviving brothers are Charles Berridge (wife Jean) of Odessa, Texas; and David Berridge (wife Lori) of Silver City, New Mexico; and sister Cathy Owens (husband John), also of Silver City. She had numerous nieces, nephews and cousins to whom she was very special.

Together they welcomed her greatest joys - a son in 1966, and a daughter in 1969.

Sureal would go out of her way to help others, and was a natural caregiver. Her legacy of caring lives on in her three granddaughters who are all nurses. Sureal loved her family dearly, and they loved her the same. She was taken home to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on May 14, 2022 at 76 years of age. Aubrey J. Dry Sr., of Jasper, Texas went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on April 24, 2022. His grandchildren, Clayanne Spadaccini and husband Michael of Jasper, Jill Beatty and husband Cedric of Jasper, Jacob Waggener of Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, Lawson Dry and wife Krista of Brookeland, and Lacy Jordan and husband Derek of Splendora. His great grandchildren, Camden and Claire Spadaccini, Braelyn and Trevor Beatty, Jaeya Waggener, and Arabella, Mary, Evelyn and Chasen Jordan.

Aubrey was born on the farm in Shelbyville, Texas in 1940, the fifth of six children in his family. His parents, not being well educated, always stressed the importance of getting an education. He worked hard on the farm and in school and graduated as an honor student from Shelbyville High School in 1958. Coming from a small school, he began college at Lee Junior College, where he lived with his oldest sister. It was at Lee College that he met his future wife, Earlene Albright (Dry) and the two were soon married while attending college. He worked during the summer doing construction and saved for his tuition each year while his wife Earlene worked full time as a bank teller. During his second year of college his father passed away. This only made him try harder to get his college education that his father wanted him to receive. After junior college he began school at Lamar University and majored in Civil Engineering. While at Lamar he worked as a student assistant for the head of the civil engineering department. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering in June 1963 from Lamar University. He immediately began working for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers where he soon attained his Professional Engineer license. One of his first assignments was finishing portions of the seawall and jetty systems in Galveston, Texas. He moved his family near his projects back then, and had homes in League City, Port Arthur and Nederland, Texas where he worked as the Project Engineer building the Gulfgate Bridge, (now renamed to MLK Bridge) connecting Texas and Louisiana at Pleasure Island. He moved his family to Jasper, Texas in 1972 to manage the Sam Rayburn and Town Bluff / Dam-B projects as the Resident Project Engineer until his retirement in 1999, following 36 years of service. He achieved the rank of GS-13 with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, which is equivalent to the Army rank of Lieutenant Colonel, and was commonly referred to as “Chief” by his colleagues at the Corps of Engineers.

Aubrey enjoyed collecting coins, postal stamps, and his favorite of all time; railroad ‘date nails’. He had a vast collection of ‘date nails’ and was a life-long member of the Texas Date Nail Collectors Association. He was an avid gamesman and enjoyed playing a game of dominos where 42 and Moon were his favorites. He could usually be heard saying “I shoot the moon” or “shoot it”…as he often did…and he often won! He was an avid genealogist and historian and began tracing the Dry family tree back in the early 1970’s and was still active in genealogy until a few short years ago. He traced the Dry family back to the 1600’s where he discovered the family name “Dry” was originally “Dürr” before his 5th Great-Grandfather migrated to America in the 1750’s. He was a member of the Sons of the American Revolution and the Sons of the Republic of Texas and the Jasper County Historical Society.

Above all, he was a loving family man, a hard worker, and the backbone of our family. He has always encouraged his children and grandchildren in all endeavors whether they were in play, work or school. Neal was born on May 7, 1964 in Houston, Texas to Elmer & Betty Gilley. Charles M. Boyett left this world on April 13, 2022 at the age of 92 in Chico, California. A Graveside Celebration of Life Service will be held on Monday, April 25, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Magnolia Springs Cemetery.

His medical issues in recent years showed his courage in still facing life with a smile, and earning accolades of being "the sweetest man" by all his nurses, care providers and people who crossed his path.

Charles was born to Monroe and Hortense Boyett on September 5, 1929 in Silsbee, TX. After a childhood of adventure living on a farm, fishing in his favorite fishing holes and hunting squirrels with his childhood dog, Lepp in his beloved East Texas, he graduated from Kirbyville High School, Kirbyville, Texas and joined the Air Force. His adventures continued around the world from there, as he served as a Medic in the Korean and Viet Nam Wars. He took pride in his work with polio patients that were transported in Iron Lungs and Prisoners of War as they returned home. He met the love of his life of 47 years, Wanda Lee Jackson, while he was stationed at Travis Air Force Base, California. Together they raised 3 children, Jacqueline, Kathleen and Marc.

After retiring from the Air Force, he fulfilled a life-long dream to get a college education and graduated from California State University, Sacramento. With a degree in Psychology, he advanced from being a Correctional Officer at the California State Prison in Vacaville to being a Counselor at San Quentin Prison. Eventually, retiring with a second 20-year career with the State of California and lots of stories to tell!

Last but not least, he finished the working phase of his life with the California Conservation Corps/CCC-Cal Fire Center, recruiting young adults to serve and assisting many in building their literacy skills and obtaining their high school diplomas.

After his FINAL retirement and the loss of his wife, Wanda, in 2000, he traveled back and forth from California to Jasper, Texas yearly. He remarried, Penny Rowton, and cared for her until her passing in 2014.

Charles was raised in a Christian home and had a love for Jesus, reading his bible and other literature about biblical events and enjoyed gospel music. You often would hear him singing the old hymns, which was a part of the joy he carried in his heart. Charles was soft-spoken and never had a harsh word to say about anyone. He was a hardworking man, who loved his family and would always give a helping hand when asked.

Charles is predeceased by his wives, Wanda and Penny, his daughter, Jacqueline and granddaughter, Heather.

He is survived by his two sisters, Mattie Smith and JoAnn Cox; his daughter Kathleen Terry and son-in-law Butch; son, Marc Boyett and daughter in law Jenn; 8 grandchildren, 13 Great Grandchildren, 1 Great-great granddaughter and many nieces and nephews. A native of Saginaw, Michigan, Henry was born on July 18, 1952 to Henry and Ellen Ensminger. He worked and retired from General Motors in 2010, where he worked in Saginaw, Michigan and Shreveport, Louisiana. In 2010 after retirement, he and his wife, Beverlie moved to Jasper. A devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather, Henry is survived by his wife, whom he married on January 7, 1984 Beverlie Ensminger of Jasper; daughters Nichole Spiller & husband Troy of Jasper and Kim Smith & husband Danny of Bay City, Michigan; sister Jane Piersall & husband Jack of Saginaw, Michigan; as well as sever grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
