Story

We rescued Rosie about 10 years ago when someone dumped a litter of kittens near our community swimming pool. Thankfully, there were enough of us there that we could each take one of the kittens home with us.Over the years, we acquired another cat and a dog. Unfortunately, Rosie has become timid, and rarely comes out from underneath our daughter’s bed for fear of running into either of the other two animals. We love Rosie so much and want her to feel at home.Ideally, Rosie would go to a family that does not have any other cats or dogs.Rosie is a sweet cat, who loves attention. and we love her very much. Hopefully we can find a good home for another family who will love her as we do.

Story

Hello, this kitty's name is El Bicho (like Cristiano Ronaldo.) I found him at 3 weeks old in the middle of the road under a highway overpass. I thought he was a stray rock in the road at first, before I saw him move his head and realized someone had abandoned him there to get run over. I rescued him back in November and he's been staying with us until now. My parents can no longer afford to care for a second pet (especially since my dog is a senior who needs a lot of care) and my mother always said Bicho's stay was going to be temporary. He is a bi-color orange tabby. He's playful, likes feather toys, loves to take long naps of the day, and goes crazy over liver-based foods. He doesn't spit up hairballs, he doesn't spray, he has been neutered, has had his annual shots, and is ready for re-homing. I have a cat tower, a few toys, a large box of cat food cans, and our supply of kitty litter ready to be taken with him to his new home.

Story

I got this kitten from Harris County Pets a few days ago, but my dog is aggressive towards her which I did not expect, so I need to rehome her. She is so sweet and cuddly and has given me no problems so far. She’s already spayed and had her 10-week shots. I can also include all the accessories/food i bought for her for an additional charge. This perfect baby deserves a loving, comfy home.

Story

Found this little one with a liter of 4 at the mall in a box, over one month old and we have fostered them but they are ready to go to their forever homes. Unfortunately they don't have vaccines due to us already owning a cats with their own vet bills but they have been dewormed. This is Oreo - she has a funny face with wonky eyes facing different directions but this precious baby loves to be picked up and petted - loves to play and will start purring the moment you love on her. So friendly so sweet, and does amazing with our cats.

FAQs

What is the 3 3 3 rule for cats? ›

While there are some cats that automatically adjust to a new home as soon as they get there, most do not. The general rule when adopting any animal is the rule of 3-3-3: three days to decompress, three weeks to learn your routine and three months to start to feel at home.

What are the red flags when adopting a cat? ›

What are the red flags when adopting a cat? Some red flags when adopting a cat from an animal shelter would be if they have a poor track record of adoption or repeat instances of adoption returns. While this doesn't mean that they are “bad,” you might want to ask why they have this in their history.

How do you answer a cat adoption question? ›

Be honest in your answers and don't lie about anything that you're asked. It's tempting to write down what you think the rescue wants to hear, but this could lead to you matching with a cat or dog who won't fit well in your home environment.

Is it better to have one kitten or two kittens? ›

Luckily, adopting two kittens or young cats instead of one is just as healthy for them as it is cute for you. Not only will they have a built-in playmate to keep them out of trouble, they'll have a happier, healthier development. Plus, you'll be saving two lives and receiving twice as much love.

What is the rule 12 cat? ›

In 12 Rules for Life, Rule #12 is “Pet A Cat When You Encounter One On The Street.” What does Jordan Peterson even mean here? Like most of Jordan Peterson's 12 rules, this is more of a metaphor for how to live life. In summary, life is tough. It hurts at times.

What is the rule 23 in the cat? ›

In a certified class action, the court may award reasonable attorney's fees and nontaxable costs that are authorized by law or by the parties' agreement.

What not to do when adopting a kitten? ›

Don't in the first week after adoption:

Don't make sudden changes in the environment, food, litter, or water of the cat/kitten. Cats find change stressful and a new home is a major stress.

What reasons would make me get denied for adopting a pet? ›

  • Rental status. ...
  • Insufficient yard space or fencing. ...
  • Declining a home visit. ...

At what age should a kitten be adopted? ›

Six to eight weeks is the optimal age to take the kittens from the mother for socialization and adoption placement, and any time after eight weeks for Trap-Neuter-Return (spay/neuter, vaccination, eartip, and return to their colony).

What questions are asked during adoption? ›

Why do you want to adopt?
  • Why do you want to adopt?
  • What do you think your parenting style will be like?
  • How well do you understand the adoption process?
  • What do you know about some of the unique challenges adopted children can face?
  • What are your hopes for your child?

How to pass a pet adoption interview? ›

Provide as many details as possible about your living situation, family experience and how you plan to care for the animal. Explain your previous experience with raising an animal, including training and exercise regiments. The more information you're able to provide, the better you'll look on your application.

Should a kitten sleep with you? ›

As tempting as it may be, avoid letting your kitten sleep on your bed or with the kids. As well as being dangerous for your kitten, cats carry some diseases that can be transmitted to humans. To avoid injury, it's best to keep your kitten in a secure space while you're both sleeping.

Should I get 2 kittens of the same gender? ›

It's suggested that you choose two male cats or a male and female combination if bringing home two kittens who are not already bonded as they tend to get along better than two females. Cats generally don't like eating close together, so consider placing your kittens' food bowls across the room from each other.

Should you adopt cats in pairs? ›

Cats are family-oriented and usually live with their relatives. Cats will sleep together, share common feeding areas, and groom one another within family groups. For this reason, cats often do well when adopted in pairs.

What is the 3 2 1 rule in cats? ›

The 3-2-1 rule is to perform an incisional biopsy if a lump persists for three months or longer after an injection, ever becomes larger than 2 centimeters in diameter, or continues to increase in size one month after an injection. Dr. Stasiak said FISS treatment causes angst because the mainstay is aggressive surgery.

What is the 3 second rule for cats? ›

Follow the 3-second rule with petting; pet for 3 seconds, then pause. If your cat re-initiates petting, pet again for 3 seconds and repeat. Do not begin petting again until the cat solicits attention. The most common ways for cats to solicit attention are by head butting, scent-marking, and rubbing against you.

How to introduce two cats when one is aggressive? ›

Separate cats that act aggressively toward each other and reintroduce slowly with positive reinforcement, as described in the Territorial Aggression section. Food treats are excellent positive enforcers of non-aggressive behavior.

What happens if you introduce cats too soon? ›

Introducing too quickly with little preparation will often lead to cats feeling threatened and scared, which increases the chance of aggressive behaviour being shown. Once cats feel this way about each other, it can be extremely difficult to change their minds.
