The landscape of AI threats is no longer a matter of "if" but "when." Business owners must brace for disruptions, as AI could outpace human decision-making, potentially leading to unforeseen economic consequences. Privacy stands on the front lines, with AI's ability to analyze and predict behaviors from vast data sets eroding the sanctity of personal information. In cybersecurity, AI's dual-use nature augments security measures but equally empowers cybercriminals with sophisticated tools for attack. The future demands vigilance, awareness, and preparedness as AI reshapes these realms, introducing complex challenges that demand innovative solutions.#AI #cybersecurity #business #cyberattack

Great to see some thought and guidance around how #ai and #generativeai should be used and deployed, and how to manage some of the cyber security risks.Recommendations like the following are useful:- Donโ€™t input or use personal data in GenAI tools if they are external to your environment.- Avoid inputting personal data into GenAI tools in your network, unless (a) it isnโ€™t possible to use non-personal or synthetic data; and (b) potential harms have been addressed.- Avoid using GenAI for business-critical information, systems or public-facing channels. We at #straker identified the need to have closed and secure AI infrastructure from the get go. It is great see the validation of that thinking.

Will we repeat security mistakes with AI in the future? #AIsecurity https://lnkd.in/gumyxt7j Hashtags: #chatGPT #AIsecurityfailures #AvoidingAIsecurityrepeatsSummary: According to Jen Easterly, director of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), the current cybersecurity challenges are a result of misaligned incentives in the technology industry. The industry has prioritized speed to market over security, leading to a culture and technology problem. This is particularly evident in the field of generative AI, where companies are racing to incorporate AI technology into their products without fully considering the security implications. The number of cyberattacks has been increasing rapidly, with security teams feeling overwhelmed by the workload. Cyber insurance premiums have also risen steeply, indicating that many claims are being paid out. Despite the awareness of the threat, successful attacks continue to occur, often due to a lack of security measures and awareness. The Log4j vulnerability is a prime example of this problem. The widely used open-...

In the ever-evolving landscape of cybersecurity, the rise of deepfake technology represents not just an advancement in AI, but a formidable new frontier in digital deception.Deepfake technology, which leverages powerful AI algorithms to create hyper-realistic video and audio content, is rapidly transforming from a novelty into a serious threat. Initially captivating public attention through celebrity face-swaps and voice impersonations, this technology has quickly gained notoriety for its potential misuse in spreading disinformation, committing fraud, and undermining trust in digital communications. The implications for cybersecurity are profound. As CISOs and CTOs, we find ourselves at the vanguard of developing defensive strategies against deepfake-induced vulnerabilities. The challenge is twofold: first, in identifying and mitigating potential threats before they manifest; and second, in educating our teams and stakeholders about the nature of these threats to prevent panic and misinformation. This evolving threat landscape underscores the necessity for continuous innovation in cybersecurity measures. AI and machine learning tools that can detect subtle discrepancies in deepfake videos are part of the solution. However, equally important are comprehensive governance policies and an informed cybersecurity culture that can adapt to new forms of digital fraud. As we navigate through these murky waters, one thing remains clear: staying ahead in cybersecurity means staying informed about emerging technologies like deepfakesโ€”not just their potential for harm but also for how they can be harnessed for positive uses within the realm of digital forensics and beyond. How is your organization preparing to combat the rise of deepfakes? Let's continue to foster a dialogue that keeps us all one step ahead.#ai #cisoevents #cybersecurity #fintech #horizonsummit #investors #cios #ciso #cto
