The Etheria Film Festival just dropped their official 2024 lineup, and folks, we are excited. The annual festival celebrates new horror, science fiction, and fantasy films directed by women. This year, the festivities kick off with a live event in Kansas City, Missouri, on Saturday, July 6, 2024, at the Screenland Armour Theater. Filmmakers and special guests will be in attendance for an onstage Q&A followed by an official afterparty. Director Axelle Carolyn will be honored with the 2024 Etheria Inspiration Award from special guest presenters, get your tickets for the live event right here.
Can’t make the fest in person? The official festival lineup will stream exclusively on Shudder beginning Sunday, July 15, through August 15, 2024.
This year’s Etheria Inspiration Award recipient, Axelle Carolyn, is the writer and director of the Amazon/Blumhouse horror film The Manor and has worked on the series The Haunting of Bly Manor and The Midnight Club for Netflix and American Horror Story for FX. Most recently, she’s directed episodes of the horror anthology series Them: The Scare for Amazon and Mayfair Witches for AMC. Her first feature, the British ghost story Soulmate, had its Los Angeles premiere at the Egyptian Theatre at the inaugural Etheria Film Festival in 2014, so this is truly a full circle moment.

“I’m so stoked that we screened Axelle Carolyn’s first feature, Soulmate, at our first Etheria festival live event in 2014, and now, ten years later, she has this amazing horror directing career that we can celebrate by giving her the 2024 Inspiration Award,” says Etheria, Director of Programming Heidi Honeycutt. “We’ve been so lucky to witness the beginning of her horror filmmaking career and are so grateful that she will accept our 2024 Inspiration Award for inspiring other filmmakers and our festival.”
